Valentino Haute Couture Autumn 2013

Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli design for the modern day woman who seeks a touch of romance to go with her everyday adventures, some of them exuding glamour, others searching for it. Offering enchantment as the ultimate gift and putting simplicity at the core of its haute couture autumn 2013 outing, Valentino introduced unexcessive silhouettes as the ultimate form of sophistication.

Leading the neo-Baroque inspired collection, the parade of sublime day looks enforced the belief that couture is not only for high functions. Able to turn the streets into paths leading towards a fantasy-world, the herringbone coats glued to double-face cashmere, the pencil skirts built upon layers of gold lace, cashmere and net, and the luxe red satin dress represented a fresh direction.

But where the silhouettes were marked by restraint, ornate crystal embroideries, rivers of pearls, laser cut-outs and hand-stitchedfloral appliqués prevailed as reminders of the hundreds of hours of handwork veiled behind each of the show-stopping garments.
